Chase's amazing They Might Be Giants' newsletter is manna from heaven for TMBG fans, but can be appreciated by any music and storytelling lover. It's much more than a song-by-song biography. You get to learn about Chase as much as you do John Flansburgh and John Linnell. And a bit about yourself too.
I don't know Jen in real life. But I feel like I know Jen in real life. Do you know what I mean? Jen writes about real life. The good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. And everything in between. Jen's a storyteller with a humongous heart, a wicked sense of humor and wisdom in spades.
Laurie Stone writes magic. No word is wasted. The art of open discovery is practiced in her stories. I'm envious of and inspired by her gifts. I want to write like her and still sound like myself. Which shows how far I still have to go.
Dennis writes with his whole body. Often, he writes about his body, the bodies of others, the global body. His embodied approach to storytelling seeps into your skin, into your body. Dennis' writing will make you laugh, cry, gasp, burp, shit your pants, and cheer. Not necessarily in that order.
As a drum nerd, I was thrilled to find this newsletter, where Michael tells stories about some of the worlds greatest drummers from the past 60 years. And other percussion and music related posts too!
Come get your backstage pass into a wide range of musical genres from the 70s and 80s and learn more than you can imagine about bands you love, never knew and will want to discover more about! And if you happen to be a baseball fan too, even better....even if those pesky Astros are the nemesis of your local team...:)
Stygi always finds songs to share that I've never heard before, which is not an easy feat. I love the mini-compilations of songs, often based around some idea or theme.
