A song that gets stuck in my head sometimes is Bloodrocks “D.O.A.”
It’s crazy to think that when I was a kid it would come on the local AM radio station KFJZ in Ft Worth. It’s an eerie picture they are painting. It was produced by Terry Knight famous for the early Grand Funk Railroad albums.
Howdy! I marked "yes" on your poll, but would have chosen a combo if avala: Yes, whenever I am able to spend the time :)
One of my all time fav bands, The Afghan Whigs, have a super addictive cover of The Police's "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" and it has been stuck in my head for weeks now. I love their approach and I can't get enough of Greg Dulli playing with autotune. Such a great vibe.
I did hear this cover last year! I may have even written about it. I can't remember. I love how this version brings out the song's dark creepiness. It kind of feels like it could have been recorded by them in the 90s. The way Dulli sings "And on!" is super unnerving.
Man, this song gave me waking nightmares. In a good way. I listened to more of their stuff and I definitely have to be in the right mood to listen to it again. Dark and unflinching. Kind of the opposite of OMC!:)
Well, it's not what we think of when someone says "earworm". But it's been stuck in my head. I live in San Francisco, so just driving around the city keeps re-activating that loop.
I was driving around San Francisco last night and wish I had their album handy as I was trying to find parking near Hayes Valley (I was going to a show at the Rickshaw Stop) for over 45 minutes before I gave up and went home. If BART wasn't a complete shit show and not super close to my house I would have done that. It's reminding me why I prefer to stay home....
I've actually been there. When I lived on the peninsula, there were several occasions when I drove up to the city for one thing or another and just gave up. An acquaintance of mine parked in the city one afternoon for, of all things, a job interview, and returned to find his car completely trashed, all the electronics ripped out and the tires slashed. He got a ride home, reported the incident to his insurance company, and when he met the adjuster at the car the next morning, it had five or six parking tickets on it.
You've sadly described the SF parking experience in one paragraph. I am likely to stick to East Bay venues for future shows. That said, I am seeing Pinback at The Fillmore on Thursday so hopefully that will be a bit easier to park at.
It’s probably been 20 years since I heard this, but like you I was already half singing it before I made it through the first sentence.
Yeah, it's one of those songs that has a permanent spot in the brain's musical memory hard drive, no matter how many times you reformat it.
God, I’m an idiot😹 The song has not damaged me at all. OK, bye, gotta go listen to the Banana Splits now.

Yeah - you put this song in my brain a few months ago and it took a couple weeks for it to pass!🤣 Thanks for bringing it back...

BRB. Off to find this song!
Love it. Of course, heard it a million times. I don't have particular associations but for sure it made me feel like I was at a tropical beach.
Stuck in my head right now? Chat Pile: "Why" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sER0FzJO-c0
