Thanks Steve, TMBG have always seemed to be one of those bands (I've got hundreds!) that I 'quite like' but have never committed to, and with so much new stuff to move onto I'm not sure I'll ever find the time to do so ...

... having said that I just tried out 'Fingertips', and have to say it's one of the strangest/intriguing songs I've ever heard. All those disparate choruses cast adrift from their verses (which you have to suspect have never actually existed) is disorientating, in a good way!

TMBG albums are like Texas weather - don't like this song? Another one will be along in less than three minutes!

But in all seriousness, anywhere you start in their catalog, you're bound to be rewarded with a gem...and after two or three listens, you find another that you missed. And another...

They Might Be Musical Comfort Food. :)

As I recall you posted about them before, so I'm glad you got to see them. Yes, I've been going to concerts as the restrictions were lifted. The Hu (Mongolian folk metal); The Warning (Mexican power trio); Band-Maid (Japanese progressive hard-rock); Nemophila (Japanese thrash and deathcore); Will be seeing Buddy Guy in early Aug, but there's room for more in between! Suggestions?

Love The Hu! Did all those concerts already happen? I just saw that The Warning was playing nearby, but it hasn't happened yet has it? Same with Band-Maid -- did they already play? I was going to contact you about the Warning show....let me think about other shows coming.

Oh, if you are interested in going to see Haken with me at August Hall (May 25), I've been trying to find someone to go to that with me. They are sort of Prog-Metal with a bit of math rock.

The Hu were Oct 2021. (Was I the person who introduced them to you? I've been posting about them...) Band-Maid, the Warning (and I forgot to mention Nightwish) 2022. Nemophila just this past Feb. Band-Maid are back for more dates this year, mostly covering cities they didn't hit in their tour last fall. That tour was 14 dates, mostly on the coasts, sold out in two days when it went on sale, which convinced them to come back this year. If the Warning are coming back I'd certainly want to see them--have to look. BTW the Nemophila show was an absolute barn-burner too- they are insane.

Thanks for the suggestion of Haken. would love to meet in person and see a show. Let me make sure I'll be in the country (I have a lot of travel for work) and let's check in with each other in a few days . Thanks!!!!!

Enjoyed this review, Steve!

Thanks Paul! It was a mostly fun show: more sonically than visually but that’s fine with me when I’m seated that far!;)
