Great piece, Steve! Thank goodness for your inner, immature 12-year-old, or we'd NEVER get any shower stories on here! Loved your accurate verbal depiction of JT's songs, lyrics, and singing. And, your connection of "Shower" to CSN's "LTOYW" is inspired, and your conclusion to simply bathe more is priceless! Pure Steve cynicism I love...I thought it was just ME!

BTW, when I finally get to an article lane of spoonerizing rock song titles, this JT song is one I'll include....a song about empowering a population of folks who've mysteriously co-mingled with wooly farm animals: "Power the Sheeple."🐑

Long before America discovered Karaoke, I had a group of friends who used to gather every couple of weeks, choose a song, and then rehearse and record ourselves performing it. A couple of them played decent guitar (acoustic) so we did mostly soft-rock. The problem was that after we were done, most of us were so sick of the song we didn't want to hear it again! One of those songs, of course, was Shower the People. Reading your post was the first time I've thought of that song in 40+ years! Thanks...?

Like I often say after writing these pieces….”You’re welcome. And, I’m sorry.”

Did “Carolina In My Mind” (guitar part) on Acapella with friends. The cool thing about Acapella is other peeps can “cover” (literally) a square (if you’re not sure what that means check out the Acapella app - it was a lifesaver for lonely musicians during the Covid thing), and at least one other great vocalist did cover the original vocalist. Both superb!

Also, “Carolina In My Mind” is also in your ear(worm)” now....

Ha- still hasn’t replaced “Shower The People” yet but I’m sure it will! I remember a bunch of friends creating nice Acapella app videos a couple years ago. And some great percussion videos on it.

Good read, Steve! Full confession: I also shower less these days (pandemic for sure). I stay home so much more. My college roommate put James Taylor on my radar. She had a greatest hits that was in rotation on our stereo. We never showered together. Lol.

Haha! As long as you told her how you feel! :-)

I asked a gal, once, if she knew how I felt. Appearing clueless, I proceeded to tell her: "With my hands." After she insisted one of HER hands meet my cheek (with enough force to fling my glasses across the room), I never saw her again. Funny....you look surprised!😱
