Really liked this post - thanks for the recommendations! Will be checking these out over the next days in between compiling my own lists to post. That's the thing about music - you can only listen to one track at a time, and because sometimes you've just got to go back and listen again, time to work in new stuff has to be found. Thanks for this!
Thank you, Kevin! I toured with Meat Beat back in '98 for his release Actual Sounds + Voices. It was a great experience. Jack Dangers is a really wonderful person.
You bet! One extra benefit is that you all sent me links to Bandcamp, YouTube, and Spotify playlists of your stuff so that I could immerse myself in tuneage all weekend!
Looking forward to hearing what you have planned for 2024!
Steve, thanks so much for the kind words and for including me in your ReCOWmendations!!! I know Britta and Miter, but not Nolan! Can't wait to immediately subscribe and dive in.
I needed this post today. Started much needed paying work jobs which I’m super into and my anxiety is telling me I won’t be able to write as much and how can I do this?
Awww. Well, first, congrats on the paid work! Celebrate that and try not to worry about how it might making time to write disappear. I know, easier said than done. Read the Polyester City/Peter Blasevick piece (featured musician #4) and his process for creating art with a family and full-time job, and suddenly time to write will reveal itself.
Just catching up on some back reading. Really enjoyed this. Have heard Britta's work and will check out the rest, including Fog Chaser.

This Grassy Knoll track is killer - instant fan, will subscribe and listen more. Cheers!
This is my favorite of Nolan's many fantastic tracks. Reminds me of Meat beat Manifesto in all the best ways:

My other recommendation to add to your list is Fog Chaser. He posts an original track 1x monthly, and pairs it with some photography, a poem, or both.
Yeah, Fog Chaser was on my shortlist for others to add. I also meant to mention Michael Acoustic as well. I'll fix that via notes!

No kidding? That's awesome! Also happy to hear that Dangers is a good guy.
Thank you so much for including me in this stellar list of Substack musicians. Very much appreciated.

Do I get bonus points for not mentioning Bloodrock's D.O.A. ... hahahahha, sorry.
What a good memory! You should have mentioned it 3 weeks ago!:)

Likewise Peter. I'm looking forward to checking out your music!

It was my honor to promote your stuff! May you record a duet with Richard Thompson in 2024!
