Very belated, but also very happy two year anniversary, Steve! Here's to many more! Your commitment and dedication is an inspiration. Delighted to have met you on this platform. Keep rockin' on!
This is great! Congratulations on two years. It's definitely an accomplishment! I look forward to every issue - always interesting, and very frequently I find myself laughing out loud.
I already read Kevin and Brad - but now it looks like more subscriptions are heading my way. Thanks for the suggestions!
You're certainly welcome - and I'm glad you're on the Bus, too! And if you're ever interested in some sort of collaboration/playlist thing ... let me know!
Congratulations on two years Steve! As someone who’s coming up on eight months on Substack, I’m always inspired by the people that have been plugging away for years. And I appreciate your honesty on imposter syndrome and writer’s block, issues I continue to struggle with.
I initially came to Substack as I thought I might be able to find some interesting articles on music. I wasn’t sure I’d find much and wasn’t really intending to stay. But I discovered a raft of writers that are passionate about music and I’ve found myself pulled into a community of authentic, caring and empathetic lovers of music and life.
I count you among my favorite writers here and I look forward to your posts every week. Your mix of memoir and music is captivating and endearing and right in my wheelhouse.
My favorite article is probably the one in which you discussed UB40’s Rat In Mi Kitchen. I connected with so much in that article - the love of reggae, the pot references, the introduction to drinking through schnapps (garbage booze indeed!). And I loved the story of the ever expanding snake collection and your pet rat named Joe. I also learned more about capybaras than I’d known before (which wasn’t hard to be fair), including the fact that they could indeed make a nice pet!
Thanks for your writing Steve, it brings joy to my life. And thanks for your support of my own Substack writing journey, I appreciate it more than you could know.
Thanks, Mark! I definitely feel we travel a similar path -- though your's is through the mountain trails and mine are urban streets with the doggies! I also look forward to your writing and your blend of the personal and musical. So glad the "Rat in Mi Kitchen" piece stood out - that was a fun one to write! Congrats on your retirement!
Congratulations! Managing every week is a huge accomplishment. And I am reminded I have a huge backlog of your posts to go through. So happy I have met you virtually!
thanks, Matt! I’m wondering if Substack is going to offer a live streaming, it would be so perfect for you on your tour to be able to stream live to your followers!
I can't see why not? If not a direct livestream, it might (already) be possible to add a live YouTube feed to a video page. I'll look into it this weekend and ask around.
Congratulations Steve. It really is an achievement to maintain your commitment and energy. You’ve inspired me and hope your Substack - and more importantly your writing - goes from strength to strength.
Happy anniversary! Many, many congratulations. I echo everyone else’s comments, and it was really nice to read the three testimonials you selected.
I always look forward to your posts. I’ve yet to find a writer who is as peculiar as you are (and brutally honest about his own peculiarities) yet so relatable, on so many levels. It’s a proper journey, every single time (might your stoner years have anything to do with that? 🤣). Congrats again, and here’s to many more years!
I echo what both you and Andy have said, Steve! You two are my best 'net friends!!! And, it ain't even close!! This seemed like the best place and time to drop that in!
Brad, I hope my editing of your kind words met your approval. I wasn't fishing for compliments by requesting a contribution, but it did boost me up a bit anyway!

Congratulations! Two years is an accomplishment, and the tributes are lovely (and well-deserved).
2 years worth of weekly posts is an ACCOMPLISHMENT for sure. Congrats and Happy Anniversary, Steve!
Thanks Chase! I tried to find a TMBG song to celebrate and went with "You Can't Keep Johnny Down."

Congrats Steve! You’ve accomplished something special. I look forward to many more years of earworms !
Thanks, Paul. I feel like you're one of the few who've been here almost from the beginning! Almost like you started Substack!:)
