Spandex jumpsuits are definitely coming back in, and I ’m here for it. I saw Greta Van Fleet live recently and they were all about the Hair! and Jumpsuits! and Pyrotechnics! during their show.

Like you, I'm ambivalent about The Eagles. I really enjoy their early country-rock albums. Hotel California was great, but so over-played I would be happy never hearing any of those songs again. And The Long Run brought out the worst of Frey/Henley's tendency to over-produce and over-think everything. Plus, let's not forget that Henley is one of rock's all-time douches. Maybe worse than Mike Love, which takes a lot of effort.

You read my mail, Rick! I had nothing to do with the Eagles after their debut (which I really enjoyed), and maybe Album #2. Yes, way overplayed after those early albums, but also I found Henley's (?) voice grated on my nerves (whomever was their main hoarse-voiced singer on, like, "Hotel California," et al.

And, yes, one has to have really over-achieve to beat Love at ass-holiness! I should've just said, "What Rick said!"👍

They definitely became bloated, dinosaur versions of themselves, but I always get a kick out of Joe Walsh. I suppose the money from another "final" tour was too much to pass up. They've officially passed The Who for most "last tour" tours.

I suppose they've simply been on a long, long run. Or, at this point, a long, long crawl.

Ha! Walkers up, gentlemen! "Let's get ready to toddle!!!" Well, Joe Walsh is a kick, but you have to remember he's an "outsider," a "late-comer," so he's got several other earlier career reasons to be cool!🎸

Oh man, homie; it's nice to see you back in my inbox.

My love for The Eagles comes & goes. They can be tough to love, and even harder to hate. And while I'm not a fan of the NFL Eagles, you have to love-or at least respect- the Philly fan base. I mean, where else are you gonna find a group of people that turned whipping batteries at people into a sport?

Thanks, Kevin. For reading and for calling me homie. As a baseball fan, I'm really looking forward to the Phillies//Braves series. I attended a Phillies game in I want to say 2003 or whenever was the last year they played at Veterans Stadium. I got seats behind home plate for 15 bucks! A truly ugly stadium and awesome fans.

Eagles, Manilow...all you needed to add was The Captain and Tennile and my head would have exploded. But I love you anyway, Steve! Oh, the answer: Two: One to change it and one not to change it.

To quote the great Bryan Adams: “Everything I do, I do for you.” I’m always thinking of you, Mr. Charles!

While I have no strong opinion on The Eagles/Eagles, I'm happy to say that this post generated in me a delightful buzzy whiplash from the hairpin turns of topic, assertive use of double negatives, gleeful assaults on aphorisms, and general "we're all fucked but let's have some fun anyway" vibe. I wish you could experience that peaceful, easy feeling at least some of the time, but in lieu of that, pat yourself on the back for making stress and anxiety your literary bitch.

Thanks for seeing me, for really seeing the real me!

I am a fan of all 3 eagles. (added the bald one). So can I request more Buddhist jokes? (How many Buddhists does it take to change a lightbulb)?

I didn't know that Barry Manilow did that song.

Did you know that The Baha Men, who asked “Who Let The Dogs Out?”, started their band in 1977? That’s closer in time to the last British conviction for witchcraft (1944) than today.

Have a great week Steve...

Wowzers! You are the King of bizzaro trivia, Paul! And for sure more Buddhist jokes! Keep ‘em coming!

And did you know I wrote about “Who Let the Dogs Out?” If not, here’s the link:

I am here for the return of Spandex jumpsuits. I am also pro-Eagles as they have been part of my karaoke arsenal for decades. Having a band behind you playing the outro to Hotel California is transcendent. Barry Manilow fan also, his 70s and 80s output Is wonderful.

As for finding a peaceful easy feeling in the midst of chaos, I have found brainwave entrainment tracks and mantras help immensely, as well as other energy work. Hope you find yours.

I will do my part to promote spandex jumpsuits. This post is just the start! I actually had hypnotic Pali chanting playing after I finished writing this to calm me for sleep.

Eagles are a tricky karaoke choice so I applaud you for that! You are living life in the fast lane! Sorry about that.

No need to apologize. Song references in jokes are not wasted time.

Great read Steve! Anyone who can mix a Geto Boys reference into a post about the Eagles is aces in my book. I find myself humming "My Mind is Playing Tricks On Me" way more than any song in the Eagles catalog so my brain also can't compute a "peaceful, easy feeling." Thanks for the earworm!

Thanks so much! You don't know how hard it was not to go down a Geto Boys tangent! But I held myself back as it was the first sentence...:) "MMIPTOM" is indeed a big earworm. I can see myself writing about that in the near future. Maybe you can fit it in Songs That Saved Your Life?
