I am so unbelievably behind on my Substack reading and just getting time to get into this post today.

Brittany Howard is hit and miss for me and this track was a little much. Having said that, I’m in a reclining position and happy to be so for the foreseeable future so perhaps I’m not in the right headspace.

Hiatus Kaiyote is a band I’d heard of but never listened to. That certainly was a tasty track and I’ll have to explore them further.

I’m a fan of Jalen Ngonda and this is a lovely performance.

Mildlife, CVC and Yin Yin are all new to me and all fantastic! I didn’t know that modern yacht rock was a thing!

Home Counties really grabbed my attention and that album will certainly get a listen!

St. Vincent was in my honorable mentions this year, falling just outside my top 20. This latest album is her best work for my tastes.

The Blu DeTiger, Noga Erez and Bodega tracks were only okay for me.

Looking forward to reading about your top five albums and the next installment of favorite songs, which I think you’ve just published.

Great selection! Jalen is indeed very promising, and I quite liked that Toxic-ish track at the end. Beats and grooves, baby!

That’s a very polite way of saying what I usually tell myself: I’m a fcking pain in the arse 🤣🤣🤣

If it weren't for the guys Frank Zappa t-shirt, I would have recognized zero of these musicians. I have a new music problem, and I am admitting that here. ☮️

It's not a problem -- you have better priorities. I obsessively seek out new music, and also follow a lot of genres. This one had a lot of newer artists, but I tend to seek out bands/artists that are heavily influenced by the stuff I grew up with, so it's usually in the realm of familiiarity.

I won’t mention BODEGA if you don’t. 😀

I know. Two of my top 5 are the same as you and Jami. I was gonna choose different ones just to avoid duplicates, but I couldn't not include these two (the other being Brittany Howard). Don't tell anyone that either.
