Wow, another fantastic batch of songs here Steve (no surprise)! I spent much of the day grooving to this diverse playlist and enjoyed most of what I heard. As with the first list, about half of these artists are new to me.
A few rapid-fire observations:
* Barry Can't Swim is completely new to me and one of the standouts on this playlist
* Can't believe I missed out on a Genesis Owusu album! I haven't had enough time to dig into it yet, but his 2021 release Smiling With No Teeth made my top 20.
* Somehow I completely missed out on The Arcs. Despite the fact that they made my '2023 Music' Spotify list, somehow they didn't make their way into contention as a potential AOTY candidate. Which after a couple listens of the album definitely feels like a mistake on my part.
* The Black Pumas album was a little disappointing for me, mainly in light of the high bar they set with 2019's Colors which was a top 20 for me. I just couldn't connect with the album.
* On Jessie Ware, although there were some great individual tracks the album didn't do it for me this year which is both a surprise and a shame given that she had a top 10 album for me in 2020 with What's Your Pleasure?
* CMAT is feeling like another album that I may have given up on too early
