Finally getting round to reading/listening/commenting on these top five lists!
I love the Kim Deal album and it made my top 20 this year (the 20 to 11 installment was published earlier today). Had it been released earlier in the year I’m sure it would’ve worked its way up into my top ten.
I’d never heard of Bob Vylan before but WOW! This is fantastic! Having developed an understanding of your taste in music over the last couple years I’m not surprised to see this so high on your list. This feels like another “miss” of 2024 for me and it’s definitely an album I’ll be listening to over the coming weeks.
I’ve seen a fair bit of buzz for BODEGA but it’s not really my jam.
Storefront Church is definitely an album that could grow on me. That art pop/chamber pop/baroque pop vibe can be very hit or miss for me. But when it hits it can hit hard. So I’ll be giving this one some more listens for sure.
That Brittany Howard album has received a lot of love. It has some fantastic tracks but also some that really don’t do it for me. One of my ironclad AOTY parameters is that I have to like every song on an album - there can be no skippable tracks and this album has a few for me.
I really appreciate all of you doing this. I'm curious about several of the albums mentioned, and it's interesting to see multiple people's perspectives on them.
One question -- I haven't been listening to much new music this year, but the song which made the biggest impression on me was Willie Nelson's "Last Leaf" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NySpcFpPcQg ) I'm curious if you know whether that was an album that any of you considered?
I have to admit I haven’t heard the whole album. But I am a big fan of Willie, and I included his duet with Orville Peck “Cowboys are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other” in episode 2 of my favorite songs post. It’s on Orville‘s album.

yass! Brittany Howard! How amazing is she?! 🤩🎶🪩
She's the best! I have a feeling I'll be basking in the glow of her music the rest of my life.
I've got no matches with any of you! (I'll be posting my list soon.) Apparently I missed the boat on Bodega and Brittany Howard!

I did see that, and it's a good song. Thanks.
