I honestly thought this was going to be an easy choice because I was convinced Bowie would be one of the options š But no Bowie, and honestly, the other five choices were all incredibly strong as well. Iām going with Chris Montez!
This was a lot of fun! It was between Benny Goodman and Chris Montez for me. In the end I went with the Montez track as itās the one most likely to get me to dance
Thanks for playing, Taz! Sounds like this one took some careful consideration. Or at least consideration. I am thinking that Vanessa Hudgens might end up shut out of the voting.
Loved this, collab, Jackie and Steve. We need a STUD that brings Rush in (In the Mood?)!!! I went with the West Street Mob. That is a great jam. And Steve, you may have inspired me to tell the most embarrassing and kind of awesome story at some point about dancing!
I made a half-hearted attempt at it before deciding that wouldn't be a fun STUDS for me, as I can't be unbiased when it comes to Rush. Maybe you and he should give it a go.
Thanks, Emm! We did contemplate a Rush song. I suggested Limelight as one that surely has 4 other songs with that title. Probably Witch Hunt as well.
I am so bummed that I couldn't find the actual video of the dance party I attended. I searched on Wayback Machine too, but no luck. I will admit that I also voted for West Street Mob.
I look forward to reading about your embarrassing dancing story! I have dozens of them myself.
As much as I love to hear a funky song by Little River Band (a criminally underrated band!) I have to go with Benny Goodman from this list. My mom was a big fan and I'd hear his music around the house a lot as a kid. Nice to hear this one again!
Thanks, Dan! We were trying to choose songs that might get a more even vote, after the Pointer Sisters' dominance last time. You can never go wrong with some Benny Goodman.
For me, LRB doesn't get the love they've earned because they were so overplayed for a while. Even now, I'd rather listen to the deep cuts than most of their hits.

Good choice! Itās a different kind of dancing with Benny G.
Love LRB, but Montez's makes me want to dance, instantly.
Agreed. Montez' "Let's Dance" is a supreme earworm of the danciest order.
Great collab. I had only heard the first two before. But LRB won me over in the end.

I always wondered what sort of wonky electric organ thing was backing up Montez...
Did you figure it out? Does it not sound like a regular electric organ of the time?
The closest sound I can think of is the Vox Contiental, which is what Ray Manzarek played for The Doors.
